- Suspicious Prompt to Update Java Script HELP!
- Posted by wolfagain on April 8th, 2008
Had 2 of these this a.m. Last week finally got rid of cpmsky.exe
Suspect they are trying to come back. Does this make sense??????

First thing I would do is control panel>java and see if there is an actual
update.

I am sure that is malware. Are you absolutely sure you are totally rid
of it? What specific malware was it? What method did you use to remove
it?
It sounds like you never fully rid yourself of the malware infection.
Also, your subject line says: "Suspicious Prompt to Update Java Script
HELP!" Is the prompt to update Java or Javascript (these are two
different things)? What is the *exact* message?

cpmsky.exe is malware. It bombards your system with 100's of cookies
that keep trying to pop up through IE-7 even though I use FF-2.
Instead of the ads I kept getting an IE page 'couldn't find server'
notice. Very persistant!
