task scheduler buggin the hell outta me

What is it with Task Scheduler? I set it to run a customized BAT file to
scan all my drives (modified chkdsk scan), I set the date, the time,
everything. When the time comes, it doesn't run. I'm the only user on this
pc and I don't use a password yet this damn thing requires one, for it says
it may not run if one is not set. Ummm why not? Is it required by law? Will
it self-destruct? Will it throw a temper tantrum and shut my pc down?
What??It makes no difference anyhow - neither runs with or without a
password. Other scheduled tasks, like Norton AV scans work on time
(schedules that are set from within programs, that is). But this one aint.
I've never figured Task Scheduler out, it's nuts. For a relatively low
priority program it behaves as though it's hiding government secrets or
something; it's so unneccesarily complicated.. And yes the Task Scheduler
service is on.

Try Start, All Programs, Accessories, System Tools, Scheduled Tasks,
Advanced, View Log.

Please post the section of the log covering the error.

TS logs on remotely. Allowing TS to work without a password will allow anyone else to log on remotely without a password. You know the fix so why bother posting.
