After a reboot or hybernation my laptop has no sound at all, but NOT ALLWAYS!
It drive me crazy.
After a hardware diagnostic i have the same error code:

"An error occurred during Direct Play Voice Setup
error code 0x80004005"

and

"Windows cannot execute DvpSetup.exe,
use Add/Remove Programs control panel to install"

Regarding the second part of your problem,do the following:-

1.In Control Panel, double-click Sounds and Audio Devices.
2.On the Voice tab, under Voice Playback, click Advanced.
3.On the Performance tab, move the Hardware Acceleration slider at least
one position to the right.Click OK/Apply.
