- TOSHIBA FIX
- Posted by LOLL on February 18th, 2006
I have this problem where I am getting blank areas on web pages. These blank
boxes have a small red x in the top left corner. I have tried all the
suggested fixes but nothing has worked. I contaced the computer manufacturer
Toshiba about it and they said they will fix the problem for $35 how would
they do this? Would they log onto my computer and do it on line?

Be very careful of these "Claims" that for $__ they'll fix your issue.
The motivation isn't to fix your issue, but make a profit. Unless it's
a 2nd-Tier Technical support type of agent. The only attention you
will get is 10-minutes of questions to enter your Credit Card and
address, phone number.....
If it's a box with a Red X, then it's some type of content (Pictures)
that either doesn't have it's native app to display or a blockage of
some kind (Security Software). Is your Java & Shockwave up to
date ?

Hi,
In Internet Explorer, click Tools, Internet Options, Advanced. Scroll
down
to Multimedia and see if "Show Pictures" is checked. For more
possibilities look here.

LOLL.............Check your Security codes...........Click
Tools/Internet Options/Advanced. Scroll way Security. Make sure there
are checks in to boxes for Use SSL 2.0 - Use SSL 3.0 and Use TLS
1.0...........I have found that sometimes after critical downloads for
IE that one or more of these boxes gets unchecked for some
reason........Let others know if this works for you...........Regards.

Click Start, Settings, Control Panel, Internet Options
Click the "Advanced" tab, Scroll down to "Multimedia",
check "Show pictures", and uncheck "Show image download
placeholders". Click "apply", "OK"
Also click the "General" tab, Under "Temporary Internet Files", click the "Delete Files" button,
check the box, "Delete all offline content", "OK". After it finishes, click the "Settings"
button and lower the amount of disk space to use to 20 Meg. Click "OK", "Apply". That will
increase your hard drive space by how much was in that folder. I've seen it well over a gig.
Folders that big are prone to crosslinked files. Clear it weekly, or sooner, especially if IE
starts acting funny. You can automate the process by clicking the "Advanced" tab, scroll down to
"Security", and check the box, "Empty Temporary Internet Files folder when browser is closed",
click "Apply", "OK"
