- Posted by sonika on April 25th, 2006
Hi... Im having trouble booting up my NoteBook past the windows logo
screen (Screen that is black with windows logo and progress bar
below). When i first got my Asus A4l brand new 6mths ago ive alwasys
been having trouble with this issue! It just freezes after the logo
with a blank (blk) screen. Eventuly after reboot after reboot it
finaly loads up but man what a mission!!. Here is a list of what i
have done so far.
Used the recovery disc's that came with the notebook to re foramtt the
drive back to brand new.
Updated all drivers and windows xp
Checked "Event Veiwer" for any errors from last boot report.
(nothing wrong there)
Ran latest virus and spyware programs to check drive. (nothing wrong
there either)
Nothing i have treid so far is working so any help would be awesome!
Cheers

How much RAM do you have installed, and how much is free memory after a
succesful boot? If you only have 256 MB of RAM on there, that is my suspicion.

Exchange it to where you bought it for a new one.

Hey guys thanks for your replys
Im thinking the problem is more
software related but i could be wrong.. I have 704meg of ram and
after i get into wndows 33% of it gets used up.. Does this help?
Going to give Asus a call today and see what they say. Wrote a email
to them in their trouble shoot web page but they only came back
with:
"Could you please first make sure that your laptop do not have
the problem with some kinds of virus? Use some virus killer software
to kill the virus. If no virus attacking, please update your BIOS to
the newest version for a try. If problem still persists, could you
please contact our local service center! in New Zealand for a
detailed check? Our engineers there will help you deal with it.Wish
you good luck and have a nice day."
Checked all these out including Bios and everything is fine..

The virus software may be a valid problem. I would uninstall it and see
how. If nothing improves, return.
