UDF Files Can No Longer Be Opened In XP
Posted by The Dark Angel on November 6th, 2005

I have recently noticed that all my backups made by Nero InCD using the UDF
format can no longer be read on any of my drives...i didn't have this problem
previously but now when a disc is inserted the drives don't recognise
them...i have tried to do a system restore but it doesn't seem to
work...unfortunatly i cannot pinpoint when this problem started...is there a
way of restoring the xp drivers that will enable me to explore a disc when it
is inserted into a drive as i have many discs with important things that are
no longer accessible...any help would be greatly appreciated...

Go here and download and install the Adaptec UDF Reader. See if that
helps.

Nero Burning Rom program can also install INCD, and modify the reading
ability of explorer while viewing a newer udf level.

You should have the same INCD version on all PCs and notebooks. Uninstall
the previous version of INCD first, and use the clean tool from the Nero
site for INCD to finish the cleaning. Reboot. Install the newer version of
INCD.

Had a problem reading an INCD written cdrw media in a notebook. Was written
on a PC. I performed the above procedure and notebook and PC continue to be
able to read and write this cdrw media.

In addition, in your situation, uninstall the Nero program, then reinstall
after you've removed the former INCD program.

i have since found that it is the actual program InCD that causes the problem
i have uninstalled the complete nero suite i have and since installed it
again without Incd and the drives could be accessed...just to test again i
then installed InCD again and the drive couldn't be accessed ...It may be
possible there is a bug in the latest version of InCD
