- Unable to delete files. Windows Explorer has encountered an error

When I try to delete files in Windows Explorer (or My Computer, etc.), I get
the "Windows Explorer has encountered an error and needs to close" message.
I'm using Win XP SP2. The problem started a few months ago, and I'm not sure
what triggered it. Any ideas what's going on?
