- Unable to join XP professional to windows server 2000 domain.
- Posted by Kelvin on November 22nd, 2005
I'm the administrator of the local domain. I have 2 exact configuration of 2
IBM laptop. 1 can join domain successfully but the other one cannot join
domain by any means. The client is installed with windows xp professional +
sp2. Error encountered is "Unknown user name or bad password". I can get the
correct IP address from DHCP server (Domain controller) and can remote to the
server using remote desktop. But I can't browse the network through the xp
professional (not yet join domain) computer. Net use also can't map network
drive.
Please help.

What message do you get when you issue this command:
net use x: \\YourServer\SomeShare /user
omainName\administrator
SomePassword

System error 67 has occurred.
The network name cannot be found.
When I do a browse on my network places, I'm able to see the server and
workstations connected in the domain. But I'm unable to browse into the
server by any means.
