Is there an inexpensive way to do this? I am just looking at buying a
machine that comes with HOME but I really need PRO!

The inexpensive way of upgrading is to ask the PC vendor to install it
for you. For example, DELL can upgrade for £47 (UK).
Also, because it is installed from the factory, you know for sure that
it will work straight out of the box!!!

The least expensive way would be to order/purchase the PC with WinXP
Pro already installed. Failing that, just shop around for the best
bargain you can find for WinXP Pro Upgrade.
