What do you think of a company that will not sell you the product you want.
But tell you what they want you to run? Have we become so passive that we
even accept it?
Many are not. Many are not going for the XP double dip either. If you
bought a PC in the last year and are not satisfied with your Vista
experience, you either have to let Microsoft double dip you for XP or switch
to Linux. BTW, Linux runs real fast on the new hardware.

Would Microsoft want to put that to the test? Maybe allow vendors boot
screens to ask the users if they want Vista or XP?
Sure didn't take them long to get 100,000 signatures.
Or is Microsoft a WeSaySo Corp?

Mr. Barnhorst is a respected contributor to these discussion groups.
You're merely a waste of time.

I don't know everything, and I don't know Colin. I am learning everything I
can about everything Im interested in, in an ever accelerated speed.
Although I know more about windows than most MVPs here, I cant say I am a
Linux expert. Sure I use Linux and know more than most.. but I never wanted
to invest the time into learning
all the details of Linux. My reason was simple. I had nothing to gain from
that deeper knowledge. Linux is sort of a hobby of a geek since not many
clients of mine needed it, and I never used it for my own productions.
Of course all my hosting is done on Linux servers.
By the time I would take to learn how to tame it, it would have tamed
itself, like ubutu has already done at a good level now.
Now using linux is as easy as windows. Sure learning some commands is good..
but changing the x org config files
with a text editor is just too boring for me.. sorry, I skipped it and now
linux has a gui for that (although getting multiple monitors working as one
desktop is tricky still)
But its not always about simple knowledge. Rather there are other more
fundemental qualities, like the ability of judgment, a vision of the future,
an empathy for people who suffer
with bad products, an artistic view of things and plain raw powerful
intelligence.
I would sum it up with one global word: Understanding.
and that's more than just knowing windows and Linux, its knowing people its
knowing trends is knowing where the future is going, and what people would
need and how that would effect the world.
And I say vista is crap....and when I say it I say it because I have deep
understanding of the multiple reasons why Vista is crap!
and I have never been wrong about something when it comes to technology.
Must I point to the cloud ones more.
Thats where we are going, vista-like OS can be considered already dead.
Vista was dead before RTM.
I was one of the first who said vista is a pile of steaming when it was a
beta codenamed longhorn, and now half the globe is saying it, the other half
is either not using computers or are the few here and there who are so
stupid morons and actually like vista.

actually I care more about others than myself... and I seldom talk about
myself,
an extreme opposite of Frank that keeps boasting.
People who are willing to keep learning and are flexible may have egos, but
they know that
often their bubbles are burst when new information comes in.
That's why I am careful not to be absolute in almost everything in life.
I even question things that others think are absolute. There are always
possibilities
There is a good exception. When it comes to vista the possibilities exist
outside vista.
Vista is a pile of crap, and MSFT will never get it off the ground.
you just have to face the fact that even a Microsoft giant can produce bad
products. Even horrible ones like windows me and windows vista.
no one is immune to bad judgment and management, and MSFT is plagued by
these problems and vista shows it clearly.

This is what happens when children drop out of high school. Very sad.
Maybe try to get a job at WalMart to fill all this spare time you seem to
have?
