- Where can I find a list of defined CTRL-ALT- shortcut keys for desktop items - Windows XP
- Posted by techman41973@yahoo.com on December 22nd, 2005
On many of my desktop items, I have shortcut keys defined.
However, for some reason C,K & M will not work as shortcut keys.
Perhaps some other windows application is assigned to these keys.
Is there a place in Windows XP where I can find a list of where all
desktop CTRL-ALT shortcut keys are assigned to? Thanks

Ahh, windows. Ctrl + Alt keys shouldn't be used for hotkeys as it conflicts with international characters. The window shell team make you use this. Good news is those without international needs, it doesn't matter. F12, that the shell team allow you to also choose (you aren't forced to use C + A for F keys), is also a reserved key.
The feature works with any key but there is no way to specify (in XP) the use of other keys.
Attached file is a listing of keys in Windows and also includes two lists of user hotkeys (ones that work under Hotkeys heading and a long process looking for all under Diagnostics heading).

Hi Tech_Man, Don't know much about Ctrl-Alt shortcuts,
but below is Win_XP_Keys.REG, used to regain control of the F1 key
by swapping it with the Num_- key on the far Upper_Right of the keyboard.
It also turns the Caps_Lock key into the Tab key,
freeing up the Tab key for a macro assignment.
The tilda key becomes the Delete key.
