Why Windows XP media center edition version 2002 was intalled when my Windows disks say version 2005
Posted by Gilles Goulet on November 18th, 2007

I am confused as to why my computer says that i have Windows XP Media Center
Edition version 2002 installed when my 3 disks of Windows XP media center
say version 2005.

Recently i re-installed my Windows XP media center edition version 2005
because the computer would not restart. I nerver knew the reason why.

Anyway, i simply changed the BIOS to read the cd rom first, and i
reinstalled Windows over the previous one, using the disks of Windows.

At one time during this reinstallation, the computer asked for the Service
Pack 2. I did not have it on none of the 3 disks of Windows, so i used my
other computer to obtain it from the MS internet site and i eventually
installed it.

Now the computer runs well. But why version of Windows 2002 was installed
instead of version 5 as per the 3 disks.

I know that someone must have the answer to my question.

Now how can i change version 2002 to version 2005?
