- Why won't my PC autologon(should be Why does windows suck)
- Posted by Me on October 23rd, 2005
I reformatted my drive and reinstalled windows today. This is on my HTPC so
I do not want to have to logon when I turn it on. I have installed TweakUI
and turned on the autologon function but it reset every time I reboot. Any
reason why this stupidity happens???? Thanks in advance.
BTW I am using the administrator account when doing this.

Hi ... If you when to windows update site and downloaded net framework 1.1 ?
Then go back and do another scan there , There should be another update for
net framework 1.1 , just download that again and next time you start up your
computer it will auto start without having to log in
I believe there 3 altogether updates for net framework 1.1 , get all 3 , one
at a time with each reboot ... See if that helps
....

You don't need TweakUI to log on automatically. Try this
instead:
- Click Start / Run
- Type control userpasswords2 {OK}
- Click the "administrator" account
- Untick the box that requires users to enter a password

Thanks!

Thanks. I thought I had completely done all the updates but I may be
mistaken. You are right it was probably the first on that did it.

No you probably did install all the updates at that time , Once you load the
net framework 1.1 and restart your computer , Then and only then will there
be another update for net framework 1.1 , I believe Microsoft added this
other update just to correct this log in problem and the last update ( the
third one ) is for a security reason ...
