- Win Explorer Default "Explorer Bar" view: Folders?
- Posted by Ken Isaacson on October 9th, 2005
XP Pro, SP2
When I open Windows Explorer (or My Computer), the left-hand pane lists File
and Folder Tasks, Other Places, and Details.
How do I get it to default to Folders, without going to View|Folders?
Someone once gave me a tweak, which worked, but I remember that it also
changed the way Control Panel opened -- it gave me a folder view as well.
(That was before SP2, FWIW)
Thanks.

Hi,
Click tools/folder options, change the option to 'use common tasks'. Then
enable view/folders and it should retain.

In File Types dialog in Folder Options you changed the default action for folders from Open to Explore.

Can't see how to change it. Went to Folder Options|File Types. What next?
Thanks!

Click Advanced, or if no Advanced click Restore (it will then become Advanced)
