- Posted by Ohan Armoudian on February 15th, 2006
I get Security Update for Win Xp KB913446 Failed, tried couple times and no
go.
Is there a different way I can update this security patch?
Thanks for the reply in advance.

Had the exact same snafus
I follow the links and found the download WindowsXP-KB913446-x86-ENU.exe
not quite sure why it wouldn't install from Billy's ... I was running IE on
proxy ported 8080
anyhow once downloaded I set up normal port 80, turned off MSN messenger,
killed icq, closed all browser windows, maybe shut something else off ,,,
you know the routine ,, if its easy to kill,,,kill it and it installed
fine.

Go download the update and install it manually. Make sure you download the
one for your particular XP version.

I just did try right now and it failed or canceled.
I used the link
http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/d...displaylang=en
and it downloaded and installed but in the update files in window update
page KIB913446 still shows as failed or cancelled. How can we make it to
show as updated successfully? Or it does not matter.....
Thanks again for the reply,
Ohan

When installing an update manually yourself, you will not find this
installation in the WU history, but that will not cause any issues.
