- Win98 & Nero or NTI

Working on an old Win98 computer, when trying to install [Nero 6.0] &
[NTI CD maker gold], both rejected by computer, I can't install.
If I install [Nero 5.0] & [NTI older version], it works fine, but only
work with CD, not DVD.
It seems Win98 is not suitable for handling DVD, is this true? I am
considering to make the machine Win2000. Advice please.

The best advice is to try a Win98 newsgroup.

Win98/98SE work fine with Nero Burning Rom. Version 5 has no facility for
writing to DVD. Version 5.5 does with online updates from the Nero site.
Version 6 should work okay period, but believe it may require 98SE at
minimum.

Nero 6 wont install on this win98SE pc either. 5 works fine, however.

Usually, on a typical 98/98SE installation, its the aspi layer that's not
there or damaged. Nero won't work as result.

Probably not in your case since version 5 does work, or can tolerate the
older aspi layer.
