I can't open 'my videos' folder as I keep getting error messages from windows
explorer saying that it has encountered aproblem and needs to close. it then
will freeze and I will have to close it through the 'task manager' or it will
shut down by itself. Help!

Hi Carla,

Might be caused by a Codec pack.

Click Start, Run and type eventvwr.msc
Select Application entry in the left pane
In the right-pane, look for the Error entry denoted by a Red X

Sort by date and track-down the entry based on what time the error exactly
occurred. Locate and double-click the entry and you'll see more information
in the resulting dialog. Click the copy button at the top and copy the whole
event and paste it to a Notepad document and save it. Post the information
here.

Carla

Please check Event Viewer for Warning / Error Reports in the System and
Application logs for when the error occurs and post copies.

You can access Event Viewer by selecting Start, Administrative Tools, and
Event Viewer. When researching the meaning of the error, information
regarding Event ID, Source and Description are important.

HOW TO: View and Manage Event Logs in Event Viewer in Windows XP
http://support.microsoft.com/default...308427&sd=tech

Part of the Description of the error will include a link, which you should
double click for further information. You can copy using copy and paste.
Often the link will, however, say there is no further information.
http://go.microsoft.com/fw.link/events.asp
(Please note the hyperlink above is for illustration purposes only)

A tip for posting copies of Error Reports! Run Event Viewer and double click
on the error you want to copy. In the window, which appears is a button
resembling two pages. Double click the button and close Event Viewer. Now
start your message (email) and do a paste into the body of the message. This
will paste the info from the Event Viewer Error Report complete with links
into the message. Make sure this is the first paste after exiting from Event
Viewer.

Hope this helps.

Hello Everyone,
I hope that someone can help me. I have been having a problem with my
computer for awhile now. Everytime I reboot my computer I get a error
message saying that windows explorer has encountered a problem and will
have to close. At that point I can't run any programs or my computer
will freeze. I usually get lucky and get it to work in a few hours but
restarting my computer over and over until it finally works, but now
that isn't working anymore.

I have viewed the event viewer and here's what it said.

Faulting application explorer.exe, version 6.0.2900.2180, faulting
module unknown, version 0.0.0.0, fault address 0x08a10e2e.

For more information, see Help and Support Center at
http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/events.asp

Thanks,
Kevin
