Is this a windows issue or a laptop issue or something else?
Posted by monty1945@lycos.com on November 23rd, 2007

Sometimes the touchpad on the laptop gets "sticky," and when I try to
move the cursor from one area to the screen to another, it just goes
back to the initial spot. I can move the cursor as far as the
boundary of the touchpad, but that's it. If I can't access the place
on the screen I want to get to, then I have to use keyboard shortcuts
to do things. After a while, it seems to just revert to normal. This
also seems to happen if I open a PDF file. I'm using FireFox browser
on a SP2 OS with a P3 laptop. Any ideas?

Thanks.

And here's a follow-up question:

I have a Cirque touchpad that connects via a standard 9 pin serial
port. I put that in, but it did not detect it. Is there a way I can
switch over to the Cirque touchpad if the built in one starts to act
up?

Thanks again.

touchpads are notorious for acting like that.

Sorry about the Dec date on a few posts--I was checking on some plane
tickets and forgot to set the date back to Nov.

Happy Christmas Ron. I guess you have flown through a few more time
zones than the rest of us.

I agree with Jim. MS (and presumably other companies) sells small USB mice
for use with laptops. I have a wired USB model and carry it in my laptop
case--it works tons better than my touchpad. You can pick up a wireless
model for $20:
