Hi,
This can be done using Tweakui. Install Tweakui and go to
Task and Start menu, then check Enable balloon tips.
Or here's a script to Disable Balloon Tips
http://www.dougknox.com/xp/scripts_d...alloontips.htm
Microsoft PowerToys - Tweakui for WinXP: Ver. 2.10 requires WinXP SP1
and later
http://www.microsoft.com/WINDOWSXP/h.../powertoys.asp
TweakUI can be accessed from Start - All Programs - Powertoys for
Windows XP

Bert:
Unless I'm mistaken, Tweak UI is installed in Control Panel and is accessed
from there, is it not?

ADDENDUM:
Yes, you're right Bert. It can also be accessed from All Programs if the
user has Powertoys installed. I never realized that since I've always
accessed Tweak from Control Panel. Thanks for the tip.

i tried that, but it seems that it had 'disabled' the balloons instead of
activating them. and i didnt find the 'Enable balloon tips' check box.

Hi Anna,
By default TweakUI does not appear in Control Panel when it's installed.
I use this script to add it.
Add TweakUI to Control Panel in Windows XP
http://www.dougknox.com/xp/scripts_desc/xp_addtweak.htm
In Windows 9x and ME, it was added as part of the install process of
TweakUI.
