Windows Validation
Posted by David P Wadsworth on October 1st, 2005

My mate has just installed Windows XP Home Edition on his PC which is not
going to be connected to the internet, and he keeps getting the message that
he has so many days to validate his copy of windows over the internet.,

How does he go about stopping the offending message, and what happens after
the 30 day limit. Any help or program/knowledge would be greatfully
appreciated.

Ciao,

Actually it sounds like you are talking about "ACTIVATION" not
"VALIDATION." They are two different things. Have you tried activating
your "mate's" copy, as that usually stops the message from pooping up.

You *have* to activate a newly-installed copy of WinXP after
installing it. If you go 30 days without doing this, the OS will no
longer work. Usually you simply take the option to do this via the
Internet and it's done in seconds. The message should give you
information about calling a phone number to do this, in case you don't
have internet access. Just follow the instructions. You'll have to
enter a long number into the phone system, and it will give you a long
number to type into the computer.
