How do I get rid of the logg in box that appears when tun on my PC rather
than just hitting the return key? I thought this only apeared if you were
in classic mode!

Do you mean the box which first prompts you to press CTRL+ALT+DEL?

Is your computer setup as part of a workgroup or domain?
(right click My Computer; Properties, Computer Name, click Change...
Does "Member of" at bottom say Workgroup or Domain?)

As far as i know, if your in a domain, then you cannot get rid of that,
short
of writing your own GINA module. Though maybe someone else knows a way.

Go to Start -> Run.
Copy and paste the following into the Open box:

control userpasswords2

Click OK.
In the "Users of this computer" box, click on the User you want
to have logged on automatically.
Uncheck "Users must enter a user name and password to use this
computer".
Click OK.
In the box that pops up, make sure the account you clicked on
earlier is entered next to User Name.
Enter your password twice.
Note: You can leave the password box blank if the account does
not have a password.
Click OK.
Reboot to see if you get the desired results.

Good luck
