- Windows Xp Shut down. "End program-samlple" error message

Computer: Dell Inspiron 600m
OS; Windows XP
Problem: Recently when I shut down Windows the following a message appears
saying" Ending program-Sample". The computer does not shut down until "End
Now" option is pressed.
Fixes tried: Many things were tried including System Restore. The above
message always appears at shut down or log off.
Is there a known fix for this?
