- WinXP Pro - Printing issues
- Posted by SharkBait on February 14th, 2006
Hi,
I seem to have had a printing issue. My Spooler got messed up and I tired
to reinstall everything (spooler, drivers etc) Followed some Microsoft guide
to fixing the spooler but I am having issues.
If I print to our Samsung CLP-500, I can print in Portrait at 600dpi with no
problems.
If I change it to 1200dpi or landscape mode or both, the job times out and
the printer spits out that the file is to large.
This is with photos, documents, even a 2 line text file from notepad.
I can not seem to fix the spooler completely and I am trying to avoid
formatting my computer.
The same thing happens when I print to our Panasonic, or other Samsung 2150
printer. So I've ruled out a driver issue.
Any ideas?

I used to get "file too large" complaints from my old HP LaserJet IIIp before I
added more RAM to the printer. I assume that you didn't used to get these
warnings, and so you probably have adequate RAM in the printers, but perhaps the
settings on your Printer Properties > Device Settings > Installed Memory got
reset to the default minimum and thus don't reflect what's actually installed in
the printers?
