WordPerfect problem but running in XP and have reinstalled WP
Posted by Diana on December 15th, 2005

Problem:

User is getting CARM (Corel Application Recovery Error) error messages
constantly while using WordPerfect 11 productivity pack-upgraded to service
pack 2(machine running Windows XP Pro). I am posting it here because we are
not convinced that it is a problem with WordPerfect exactly since it has
been reinstalled twice. Maybe XP or print driver related. The problem is
intermittent in that it doesn't happen when doing one specific thing, but
happens so often that work is not productive. CARM reports to COREL have
generated no response from them. The Window error that pops up after the
CARM wizard is usually an application error, memory could not be read. Files
mentioned in the error messages are PFCoachWnd110,wpwin11.exe, PFPl110.PFC,
wpwin11.dll.

What has been done to try to correct the problem:

1. Uninstalled and reinstalled WordPerfect 2 times. 1st time using just the
uninstall on the CD, the 2nd time using the CD and then further deleting all
files, registry entries etc. related to WordPefect.

2. Uninstalled and reinstalled print drivers and tried different versions of
drivers. But, the error doesn't just happen when trying to print. It will
happen when saving, editing or printing etc.

3. Printserver110 has been added to startup.

4. Checked machine for disk errors.

5. Ran registry repair utility.

6. Virus and spyware protection are present and up to date.

7. All other apps are running fine.

8. Although it can happen on any document (even a blank new page)WPlook has
been run on the documents to check for file corruption.

Your assistance is very much appreciated.

The fact that you've uninstalled/reinstalled doesn't mean the issue is
with the operating system. The very first place you need to look for
help is Corel tech support. There may be issues with older Corel
products and SP2 - Corel are the ones who will know this and also know
of any patches or workarounds.

The latest version 12 is very stable with XP SP2. I have had problems
with 8 and 10. Haven't used 11.
