XP SP3 beta wont uninstall
Posted by Marty on May 16th, 2008

I installed the xp sp3 beta several months ago and it works ok but takes
forever to shut down and I cant uninstall several of my programs ie: windows
messanger. I get an error message when I try to uninstall sp3, I wanted to
get rid of it and try the official version. I have pentium processors. I
tried to uninstall it in safe mode and no luck..help?

Hello Marty,

Please post the error message. Also it is not the best way to install BETA
versions on productiv machines. Always use test machines or virtual machines
for this. Prevents you from reinstalling the complete system.

It seems that you have just experienced a common problem with BETA software.
Sometimes the BETA software may not correctly un-install and only a re-install
may be required.

If you are running the beta and not a release candidate then it has to be
worth it. The beta is timebombed to expire within the next six weeks.
After that Windows won't work. Find a way to remove it or get your files
backed up so you can do a reinstallation.
