XP WILL NOT RECOGNIZE LOG ON TO WINDOWS USER/PASSWORD HELP???
Posted by FLETCH on November 6th, 2005

Had friend put new display on IBM A30 Laptop. When got back upon initiating
start up I first get hit CTRL ALT DELETE keys for security and then Log On
info requseted. When I put my original User & Password computer says to check
for correct USER or PASSWORD info?

Been using same logon for years with this computer with no trouble!

Do not know all that this Friend did but finally received computer back.
Only other thing that does not look right and need to have fixed seems Fan is
not working and get Fan Error before this Log On Window appears.

Any chance I can reset my computers password or find what is going on?????

Thank you for any assistance anyone can be!!!!!!!

Your "friend" didn't do you any favors!!!!!
Obviously he set password. Get it from him!!

Did he cause fan problem? I don't know. Maybe. If so, have him fix it.

Either way Fan needs to be fixed!!!

Stop using the computer immediately. If you run your laptop without a
properly working fan you take the risk of destroying the hardware. I
can't imagine why you let a "friend" do whatever he did and then didn't
even get a written list of what he did. Call IBM tech support and
arrange to have them fix the machine or take it to an official IBM
repair center (if one exists in your town). IBM tech support will be
able to tell you.
