- Active Sync Error
- Posted by Snapper on March 13th, 2008
I run Windows XP SP2 and Active Sync 4.5 connected to an HP iPaq 112
running Windows Mobile Ver. 6.
Recently it's been generating sync errors.
It says that my "PC requires attention".
The detail says that there has been a change made on my server that
requires me to resync all items on the PDA.
The support code is this:
0x80883001
Anyone got any ideas on this?

Thanks. I'd already done this but none of the problems or suggested
solutions matched what is going on here.
As I'm typing this I'm doing another sync and I got the same message. So
it appears to be doing a complete resync.

No, I haven't. I ended up allowing it to sync and some data that was
entered after the last activesync and in between the requested sync was
lost. But luckily it wasn't much. Since then the problem has not
reoccured.
I'd like to know what caused it to happen in the first place. If I did
something wrong I'd avoid doing it again.

Welcome me to the club.
I'm using an HTC-8900 (aka AT&T Tilt, HTC Kaiser )
OS: Windows Mobile 6 Professional (CE OS 5.2.1622)
Activesync version: 4.5.0
PC OS: Windows XP SP2
Outlook version: 2003 SP3
I'm periodically getting (sometimes once a day but not on every sync) a
message:
There has been a change made on your server that requires you to
re-sychronize all items on your device. Please perform a manual sync.
Support code: 80883001
Apps loaded on the PDA:
poccketMax phoneAlarm
Google Maps
SBSH.net PocketWeather
Spb Pocket Plus
OZ Communications OZ IM
Namco Ms. Pac Man
AT&T Get Xpress Mail
When the error happens the only program shown running in memory is Activesync.
I've tried disabling Advanced Network in the USB to PC connection settings
so it syncs using PPP instead of RNDIS - no luck.
I also tried disabling the featuring in Spb Pocket Plus that closes, instead
of minimizes, the application when you click the X in the upper right corner
- no luck.

I am running the basic Outlook, no service packs installed. Other than
security issues what do the SPs do for Outlook? Any bug fixes or
additional features?
Back to the original problem. I haven't seen it for a while. When it last
occured I manually re-sync'ed as it recommended. A few double up entries
had to be deleted or edited. For example, I have my shift roster on the
Ipaq. Some of the shifts were entered twice and were across two days and
had start/finish times. Whereas they should've been on one day and be an
"all day" event.
Why this happened, and why some events and not all were affected, I don't
know, given that they're a recurring event. When I edited the faulty ones
I was asked if I wanted to open that event or the entire series. I just
edited those particularly events individually.
