- Active Sync and sync to Exchange 2003: Error 0x80004005
- Posted by Tobias Ulm on June 3rd, 2005
Hi to all,
I have a pocketpc with Windows Mobile 2003 Premium and Outlook 2002. In our
company there's a Exchange 2003. I can't connect and sync to this server. I
get following error code (which is normaly an access error code) 0x80004005,
Please reset your device, blablabla.
My Network is configured well, over wlan i can access everything i want. I
also can add a imap4 mail box to outlook and retrieve my mails from the
exchange server.
On another pocket pc there are the same settings and it works.
Does anybody know what to do?

I too am receiving this error. Here's what happened:
The college I work for was running Exchange Server 2000 hostname
email.cookman.edu and everything was syncing fine. The hard drive in that
server crashed, so when they reloaded and upgraded to Exchange Server 2003
the hostname was changed to webmail.cookman.edu. Ever since, it gives the
error "Synchronization failed. Try again, and if this condition persists,
reset your device. Error code: 0x80004005".
I backed up my PDA, did a hard reset, and it sync'ed with the new hostname
settings, so it's definitely not server-side. I don't want to lose all my
old emails, contacts, and calendar info. I want them to sync into the new
server. Will this be possible?
Thanks in advance for your help.
