I am syncing alright. But if I go to Tools > add/remove programs and check
to add a program it does. But next time I want to load another program and
have unchecked the previous program the sync removes the previous program
before add the new program.

Not sure if I understood your question right. In the Add/Remove program,

- To remove a program from the PPC, clear its check box by clicking it.
- To remove a program from both the PPC and the Desktop computer,
select it and click Remove.

So if you uncheck the option it will remove it from the PPC.
