ActiveSync does not sync all contacts.
Posted by Derrick on June 6th, 2008

After days of trying to fix this, I cannot find a single reason why this
would be happening...

This recently started happening, as it used to work fine.
I can sync new contacts created in WM5 to Outlook, but if I create one in
Outlook it will not sync to WM5. ActiveSync DOES regonize that there are new
contacts in outlook, and starts to sync them, then just immediately gets a
checkmark. And nothing is transferred. No errors.

I deleted all partnerships and installed AS on another computer, partnered
with it, and everything works fine.

Hi Derrick,

You might want to run scanpst to see if it helps fix the issue. Refer -

Unfortunitly, that did not correct the issue.

Any other ideas would be greatly appreciated, as I am about to just reformat
out of frustration.

Hi,
Did you try and setup a new contacts folder, sync and then move them back
until you find the contact that won't sync?

Once ActiveSync fails to sync a contact, it stops all synchronization of the
rest of the contacts.

Only a handfull of them will transfer over.

I even cleared the contact list, and created one new contact. A.S. on the
computer & on the phone recognized it, acted like it transferred it, but the
phone still has no contacts.

If I do this from another computer, ALL of the contacts will transfer, and
newly created ones will transfer as well.

That seems to indicate this computer being the problem. You've done ScanPST
and Detect & Repair for the Outlook data (I see that you have done ScanPST)?
Seems like one or the other of those should find something wrong. Same
version of Outlook on both computers?

Yes, I have done ScanPST, which only found minor inconsistencies and
repairing it makes no difference.

Both computers are running the same version, with the same updates.

I'm thinking its going to be time to just reformat and start over. =\

What about Detect & Repair from the Help menu of Outlook? While
reformatting might work, it's likely that we can identify a problem.

No Cause Found.

Ran all 5, no identified problems.

Hi,
Try exporting the data from the PST and importing it into a new one. Then
set the new one as the default PST file and sync.
