- Even more Activesync problems..
- Posted by activesync on September 2nd, 2005
Greetings,
It seems that this is a somewhat common problem, but nothing I've seen so
far has worked. My problem lies with AS 3.8 not recognizing.
Unfortunately, windows recognizes the device and it shows up as "mobile
device' in my computer. Also, the driver is correct - it displays Compaq
iPaq USB in device manager, not some 'error 38.
It worked in the past, synchronizing easily and making me love the system.
I've tried re-installing AS, detect and repair, and most of the tricks
mentioned so far.
Thanks for your help,
-David Koonce

might try the steps at http://BevHoward.com/ASync.htm#USB
and http://BevHoward.com/ASync.htm#USBGetConn
The "USB" steps assure that the port associated with the ppc connection
is correctly recorded... the latter will provide some additional clues
for us to help, so record them all and repost if no joy.
Also, Chris' pages at http://www.pocketpcfaq.com/ contain the most info
on resolving AS issues.

note, also, there is no reason to upgrade Activesync and, doing so will
often create more problems.
....see if you can locate your original activesync cd that shipped with
the device as it contains an important usb inf file which might be an
issue if the previous suggestions don't help.
