- File sync on Smartphone with ActiveSync
- Posted by Icaros on April 4th, 2008
I thing this was an excellent functionality to keep company price
lists and similar documents updated.
I knew this issue have been up on forum before, but do anyone know if
possible to activate the functionality by editing the register, (as
the functionality seems to be in the SW)?
As I understand it (previously owned an Casio Cassiopeia WinCE device)
it¡¦s possible to have ActiveSync to sync files in a dedicated
directory if you connect a standard windows mobile device, but if you
connect a Smartphone device this functionality disappearļ
A question for you who know the registry, is it possibly to have this
work on the Smartphone? Or have misunderstood something in the
concept? ļ

Hi Joakim,
Earlier, Smartphones lacked the File synchronization functionality. It was
only available for Pocket PC and Pocket PC Phone. This feature is now
available in Smartphones running on WM6.0 Operating System (OS). If yours
is
running on the same OS, you will need to download ActiveSync 4.5. However,
if your PC is running Vista then you will need WMDC 6.1.
Both are available for download -

If your Smartphone is running on a pre-WM6.0 OS, then I am not aware of any
registry edit which will enable it. You may however, use the Explorer window
to copy/paste/remove files on the device.

I dont think that it's something that could be achieved thru registry,
registry does not add new functionality (but not if a handler exists but
disabled)
