HELP : Restore after hard reset
Posted by Steve on August 12th, 2007

Hi there

(My original post is no longer available for some reason !)

I have a HP hx4700 with WM2003SE and I sync using ActiveSync V3.8.0.

I backed up, as usual, last night but this morning, unfortunately had
to do a hard reset !

On doing the reset, I renamed the hx4700 : HP_hx4700 (as it was named
before), reset the date etc, made sure regional settings were correct
etc. etc.
But when I put it in its cradle to sync it to my desktop PC, it wants
to make a new partnership and does not pick up the old HP_hx4700
partnership .. so that I can restore my programs/setting to what they
were !

What have I done wrong or missed ?

Help please... thanks in advance,

Steve

Hi Steve,

It won't pick the settings unless and until a partnership is formed. I am
assuming you would like to restore a ActiveSync Backup file. In the "Setup
a partnership" dialog that appears, choose Guest and proceed. Once you are
connected in the Guest mode you can restore the backup file. For more
information refer to http://www.pocketpcfaq.com/faqs/activesync/backup.htm

Hi Raj,

Thanks for that .... it worked a treat !

I did as you said then when I went to restore it showed the profile
"HP_hx4700" on the drop-down menu ... I selected it (I also have a
profiles "HP_h2210" and "HPJornada") and away it went !

Many thanks again you have REALLY helped !!!!

I will note it down for future reference !

Kindest Regards,

Steve
