- Mobile Device Center changes device id every sync .. breaks apps

Every time I sync my PDA, Mobile Device Center changes my device id to
"WINDOWSMOBILEXX" where XX is any number between 1-99. This breaks all my
registered apps that rely on the Device ID.
I have edited the device id in the registry on both Vista and PDA, and that
makes no difference.
Any ideas?

Yes, I found the exact same problem. I use Vista Business and my device is a
Dopod D810. Searched through internet and somebody said blanking the device
id field will work. But my device device refused to let me enter blank - it
kept prompting me to enter a name.
It seems quite many people encountered this issue... just wonder why
Microsoft haven't found it out and resolved it in the first place ?
