Need ActiveSync for multiple devices
Posted by kellionaire on May 8th, 2008

I am having trouble connecting my barcode scanner to my PC. The scanner is
running CE.NET 4.20(PSC3-41.EN). I upgraded to ActiveSync 4.5 to connect my
WM 6.0. I notice that CE does not seem to be supported in ActiveSync 4.5. I
tried downloading ActiveSync 4.2 from the Microsoft site and after removing
4.5 from my computer and installing 4.2, the CE device gets recognized as
connected but I cannot find it. Do I need ActiveSync 3.8? Where do I find
it? Is there a solution where I can connect all my devices? I use CE, WM
2003 and WM 6.0.

No, CE4.2 should work with AS4.2 (that's what I have).

Define what you mean by "find it" in "I tried downloading ActiveSync 4.2
from the Microsoft site and after removing 4.5 from my computer and
installing 4.2, the CE device gets recognized as connected but I cannot find
it." You're using some special desktop software from the barcode scanner
manufacturer and it doesn't recognize that the device is present? Or
something else?

Hi,
Microsoft chooses to limit the number of devices that can sync at one time
to one. So you will have to write your own program to get data from your
device to your PC.

If the data is in SQL Mobile, you can use SQL Server 2005 to sync by
publishing the databases and using another network connection.
