- Sync is only working when outlook is up to date

Hi
Using Mail for Exchange (M4E) on Nokia E51.
Can connect to internet via WLAN and GPRS/3G.
Can syncronize with Exchange (2003 sp2).
But - when new emails arrives at Exchange, the sync on M4E does not include the
new emails - until I make a full sync in my Outlook client on my Windows box.
Any ideas ?
