two handheld devices to sync.
Posted by jbrunemann on September 28th, 2004

I have a 3955 Compaq pocket pc device I need to get the data off of on to a
new 4100 pocket pc I bought. I would like to be able to sync both to the
same info. Any help on the partnership set up??

You just have to create a partnership for each of them with the same outlook
and desktop. You won't be able to synchronize them at the same time
though.(One at a time).
If you have more then one machine, you can point your machines outlook to
the same server and set a partnership for each device on a different
machines. if you leave your devices connected then outlook information will
propagate to the both devices.

Activesync supports syncing of two devices (not at the same time though) and
one way to do it is to goto the Start menu on the device, click
Start>Settings>System>About>Device ID(tab) and change the name on the new
device from Pocket_PC to something else. I used my name and variations of
the suffix for my devices. This will allow you to have a profile for each
device. Note that there cannot be any spaces for the device name, I use an
underscore for this. Soft reset your devie so that the name change sticks
and when you put your new device on the cradle it should build a profile
based on the new name of your device.
