Posted by Renze Klamer on February 15th, 2007

Everytime i connect my HP IPAQ 6515 to my computer running Vista Ultimate
WMDC pops up with this message. I tried to read all posts on this subject but
did not find any sollution. please assist!

The message you get is "Windows Mobile Device Center Sync Host does not
work"?

Has the connection ever worked?

Do you have any third party applications installed that use sync?

Actually the message is in dutch (i translated it).
And yes the connection worked fine in XP Pro. It stopped working when I
installed Vista Ultimate
I have stopped and removed all possible software who could have any
connection to the device - however this was all genuine HP or TOMTOM
software. Currently nothing is running (as far as I know)

But thanks for your reaction. I was becoming desperate and at least someone
is listening and reacting. I appreciate that very much!

Make sure ActiveSync is uninstalled. Make sure you have the latest version
of WMDC installed. Uninstall all 3rd party smartphone apps on the host PC
and the smartphone. Reboot and try to sync. It should work. If not you
may have to hard reset your smartphone after deleting all 3rd party
smartphone apps from your PC.

I have done everything you said and it dit not help. the email address from
patrickk@online.microsoft.com returned also with an error. Help

my message to Patrick was:
Dear Patrick,

I did save the files wmdc.exe.config and wmdhost.exe.config to the
windows\windows\mobile directory and the result was that I got the message as
shown below. I did not find the mentioned logfiles.

After I performed a hard-reset on my HP Ipaq – it made a connection and it
asked me if I wanted to ‘fill’ the HP with the information from Outlook. Of
course I said yes. Then it stopped again. This was not in Windows Mobiel
dievice center but in ‘Synchronise center’

After stopping I went to the Windows mobile device center and received this
message:
The picture is missing and says: (my translation from Dutch)
the 'getting' from de COM classfactory for the part CLSID

I really hope you can assist me! It is annoying to have paid good money for
Vista and not being able to synchronise my palmtop with it.

Steve, I share one thing in common with Renze. I can not generate these
logs. I manually searched the folders and then I did a Windows search of the
entire pc and none where found. What could I be doing wrong?

The error is saying that one of our COM objects isn't registered in the
system.
Are you running 64-bit Vista? And did you have a previous version of WMDC
installed, like our Beta?

Try going to the Add/Remove programs control panel and removing WMDC. Then
install it again from the download package available from:
http://www.microsoft.com/windowsmobi...icecenter.mspx

Dear Steve,

I did run the beta's from office 2007, i dit not run the beta from Vista. I
did remove the WMDC (twice) and did reinstall it (after downloading). What I
found however is that when I removed wmdc, the directory remains and nothing
actually changed. Should I delete the entire directory as well?
I will try to follow your advice tonight and report back to you.
kind regards
Renze
