I had 5-port switch which had Auto-uplink and Auto-detection, can I
connect any port on the switch towards network side (to router)?., also
do I have to use cross cable to connect on N/W side or straight cable?.
Also which cable I have to use to connect PC to switch?. Is it cross
cable or straight cable?. How I will know which cable to use in above
two cases (switch to router and switch to PC's)?. thanks.

First, my router/switch has a port marked WAN. This connects to the
Modem. Straight cables throughout.
