If I will buy an adsl modem with a few ethernet ports built in does it
mean it is a modem/router/switch all in one?
What do you recommend?

it is possible that a router has a adsl modem included.
if you want more than one pc on the internet i would use a
router-modem combination. else i would recommend a single modem!
