- Anyone else?

Is anyone else having trouble with Comcast high speed internet
connectivity in Plano, Texas? We are connected for four minutes,
disconnected for two, like clockwork. This has been happening since
the switch over to Comcast from ATT 15 days ago. The problem occurs
with two different routers , and does not occur at all when no router
is used.
Does anyone have a rcommendation for a reliable high speed ip in Plano
Texas?
TIA

Have you placed the mac address of the working directly connected pc

You may want to read http://www.catb.org/~esr/faqs/smart-questions.html
if you require more help.

same here in plano, last few days have gotten progressively worse. I have
linksys WRT54G, 2 cat 5 conmections and one WPC54G wireless. anyone have
quick instructions on how to clone MAC and will this really help, how ?
I have had cable with @home, then AT&T but since comcast has take over it
has gotten quite bad. I am getting 2-3 drops a day now. seems to always be
that i can't get a lock on 'upstream' signal. this is with a Linksys cable
modem.
any ideas appreciated on how to get around comcrap problems. i don't even
use their DNS servers anymore as they frequently are down.

Hmmm, I am south in Garland Tx, you would think we would be using the
same dns servers and have had no problems with them.
cat /etc/resolv.conf
search localdomain attbi.com
nameserver 204.127.202.4
nameserver 216.148.227.68
Maybe this wonderful sunny weather has degraded your cable hookup.

Try comcast support. They actually can help diagnose problems. If this
is a recent occurence it might be system maintenance, expansion, etc.
This normally happens during normal business hours.
Also, test with a direct modem connection.

Hi guys,
The upstream is a typical problem for us here in Newfoundland, Canada.
Hot weather affects it more than other factors for obvious reasons. Sounds
like you have a simple cabling problem (drop, outlet, splitter, etc.)
Replacing or reconnectorizing some or all of these is a good start to the
solution to your problems. Your ISP should have tech support to verify what
the particular upstream value is for your CM. Some modems allow you to view
it yourself by typing in 192.168.100.1 in the address bar of your browser
and looking for a "transmit power" value. Between 35 - 55 dBmV should be
acceptable depending on your ISP. Higher than that and the modem goes
offline. Fix this and your troubles are over.
