- Bay Area Comcast network help

I'm trying to use a Netgear 314 Router to share my Comcast cable
internet connection.
Machine 1: running XP Pro, set to obtain ip addresses automatically
Machine 2: laptop, running Win2000Pro, set to obtain ip addresses
automatically
Both can reach the router and the internet, but after about 15 minutes
neither one can reach the internet. Then I disconnect the modem from
the router for about 30 secs., reboot both machines, and I'm once
again back in business.
I tried to set the router to spoof the mac address, but that doesn't
seem to hold it.
Any ideas?

Power everything down. Restart the modem, then the router, then boot
the computers. The modem might have to register the router MAC address,
and power-cycling the modem will do this. It is interesting that you
are having this problem now. I had a short period of time two days ago
with the same disconnection. AFIK, it was a Comcast problem.
