- Bell 202 compatibility with US Robotics Sportster.....
- Posted by dpsims@virtualdave.com on August 26th, 2005
Hi,
Is it possible to configure a USR Sportster to behave like a Bell
202s Modem?? What would be the configuation string to do this if it is
possible?? If it is not possible with a Sportster, does anyone know of
a more modern modem that might have a Bell 202 compatibility mode??
TIA,
Dave

Most, if not all, USR Sportster modems were intended for use with
a PC. As such they only implemented 2-wire, full-duplex, constant
carrier modulation schemes (Bell 212, V.32, V.90, etc)
Since Bell 202s is a 2-wire, half-duplex, switched carrier mode,
about the only thing compatible is another Bell 202s.
You might try Zypcom as a current vendor of such. (they bought the
rights to the old Racal-Vadic series) See:
