- Call waiting/Modem on hold
- Posted by Robbie on January 26th, 2004
Two questions.
1) I understand it is neccesary to have a V92 modem to put a modem on hold
when using call waiting.
Does this require additional software to manage this or does most modem
software manage this already.
2) When using a modem which cannot manage call waiting I understand that in
the UK a pre dial number of #43# will turn the call waiting off. Does this
mean that call waiting has to be turned back on
manually each time by dialling *43# or can the modem handle this
automatically.
Any advice would be greatly appreciated,
Thank you,

put finger to keyboard and composed:
In Australia one can disable call waiting on a per-call basis by
prefixing the phone number with *44. This disables call waiting for
the duration of the call and automatically reinstates it when the call
terminates. In the UK the equivalent code appears to be *72.
