CallerID for the Conexant 56K ACLink softmodem?
Posted by Fred on June 28th, 2004

Hi,

I ran HyperTerminal to send AT commands to this softmodem embedded in
a Compaq Evo laptop, but it doesn't answer to the at#cid=1 command,
and no trace of CallerID-related strings in its INF.

Can someone confirm that this modem doesn't support CallerID at all?
Since CallerID is a pretty standard feature, and Rockwell has offered
this for years, I'd be surprised if this feature were not available on
those modems.

Thank you
Fred.

Thx Pete, it looks like that modem accepts the +VCID=1 (at least, we
get an OK instead of ERROR). I'll add the CID-related strings in its
INF, and update to see if things work.

BTW, we just noticed something funny: if we plug two modems on the
same CID-conditionned analog line and run the CallerID applet
Identify, only the first computer reports CID, while the other one
sees nothing. I would expect the signal to be analyzed by the two
modems.

Thank you
Fred.

You are wasting your time playing with inf files until you can
demonstrate in Hyperterminal that the modem does indeed have the
ability to report CID.

Indeed. After using +VCID=1 in HyperT, the CID info show up between
the first and second RINGs.

For those interested, here are the strings I added to OEM5.INF in the
INF/ sub-directory:

(voice]
....
;The original INF contained atj1+vcid=1, which triggers an error
HKR, EnableCallerID, 1,, "at+vcid=1<cr>"

HKR, Responses, "<cr><lf>DATE = ", 1, 93, 00, 00,00,00,00,
00,00,00,00
HKR, Responses, "<cr><lf>TIME = ", 1, 94, 00, 00,00,00,00, 00,00,00,00
HKR, Responses, "<cr><lf>NMBR = ", 1, 95, 00, 00,00,00,00, 00,00,00,00
HKR, Responses, "<cr><lf>NAME = ", 1, 96, 00, 00,00,00,00, 00,00,00,00
HKR, Responses, "<cr><lf>MESG = ", 1, 97, 00, 00,00,00,00, 00,00,00,00

Identify displays CID info correctly.

Thx everyone
Fred.
