comcast in chicago
Posted by kse on August 8th, 2004

Hi. I have to setup a Comcast connection for a friend in Chicago. I
am using comcast since that seems to be the only option. I have a
couple questions.

1) How is the service? - From the users persepective.

2) I want to set up a router with a cable modem. I will be using the
Linksys Wireless G broadband router and a Motorola SB 5100. I am
finding conflicting information if this is in violation of the TOS.

Thanks in advance.

nothing to it, get your cable modem then after the installer leaves connect
your router.
now the wireless connection is up to you. I set mine up in thirty minutes
and I use both xp and w2k.
I also use wep encryption which isn't the best but good enough for where I
live.
I use a dlink624.

And just as a warning, a small amount of users have slow uploads with the
surfboard 5100 with comcast. If you have really slow uploads, it's a good
chance why.
