Has anyone noticed Comcasts links to their Live Chat Support sems to
have disappeared. Choosing the link from within their "Service Center"
results in a "Page not found"

Actually I activated that service Saturday afternoon after my web pages
stopped working. Was on line for 30 minutes. The end result is that their
upgraded server software REQUIRES a file with a specific name (such as
index.html - the list is on comcast.net) in EVERY folder and sub-folder.
Prior to Friday, if you directed a user to a sub-folder without such a file,
IE would display a list of the files with their sizes and dates. I had used
this "feature" to let my viewers pick and choose the file(s) they wanted to
download. The live chat tech told me that was supposed to happen that way.
He changed his story when he finally tried it himself and realized that the
"feature" no longer exists thanks to the new software and web page
management by comcast.

The link to live chat is there, I didn't have to look very far to find it.

I probably would not have counted on it if they never offered that "feature"
in the first place, but for my use, it worked out perfectly. It seems the
only option now is to setup elaborate "index.html" files in each sub-folder
and update them constantly, including finding some way to display the file
name, size, and date. If I had FrontPage, I'm sure a lot of this would be
done automatically, but I don't, and had whittled together a dozen lines of
HTML code to do the job clean and simple.

Oh well, I'm sure some other "feature" will disappear in the future when
they upgrade again.
