Dial Up across internet/ethernet
Posted by Spyda on October 27th, 2006

Hi there,

I'm trying to create a remote dial up connection.
I know there are solutions that mean I can dial up across the internet
using a modem at a remote location, using something like virtual COM
port.
However, I have a device, (alarm system, for example), that needs to
dial up, I want this to be able to ultimately dial up using the modem
at the remote location.
The reason for doing this is that the device, (alarm system), needs to
show the Caller ID on the remote line, (so if anyone can think of
another way then please let me know!).
Also I can put any equipment at either location, so hopefully that'll
make matters easier.

I look forward to any help and advice anyone can offer,

Thanks,

Spyda

another old thread. dialup can be shared via Windows ICS, Lansuite, linux
iptables, etc. even Netzero works.
