Difference between 550, 650 and 950 modes of UARTs ??
Posted by patil_suresh on May 18th, 2006

Hi,

I see a UART can be of a 16550, or 16650 or 16950 mode.
What is the real difference between all these modes? Is it the buffer
size ?

Is there any place where I can get specs for all these modes ?

Thanks in advance,

Suresh

That and more. For example, some flavours add IRDA capability, others
have Auto-RTS and Auto-CTS modes.

I think you need to consult the individual datasheets.
