Firmware upgrade utility for Hayes
Posted by Martyn Bromley on September 18th, 2003

I'm trying to locate the Hayes Firmware Upgrade Utility for a Hayes Accura
ISDN TA - model XZ01EU (european model). This will apparently allow the two
analogue ports to 'ring' and be recognised by an external fax machine.

According to Hayes the firmware required is acc_e.115 which I have
downloaded but they are unable to assist with a method to upgrade -
apparently the TA was manufactured before Zoom acquired them.

I'm running WinXp

Any help or assistance in pointing me in the right direction would be
appreciated

Perhaps you could convert the code to a binary image which you could
then program directly using a device programmer. Can you provide the
URL for the firmware?

I found the firmware at DriverGuide. It appears to be a 240KB binary
image which you should be able to program directly with a device
programmer, assuming the flash EEPROM(s) (1 x 2Mbit or 2 x 1Mbit)
is/are not soldered to the PCB. I'm betting the first or last 16KB of
the flash device is a protected boot block.
